As the Dementia Lead, you are a key support to our Home Management Team, making a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents. Your role involves guiding and nurturing a small team of compassionate care staff, employing a supportive coaching style to ensure our dementia services meet UK legislation and regulatory standards.
In this position, you will have the opportunity to conduct pre-admission assessments and build strong, trusting relationships with residents and their families. Regular team briefings will allow you to share best practices, fostering an environment of collaboration and shared learning. Your empathetic nature and excellent interpersonal skills are essential in organising workflows and coordinating care that genuinely meets the needs of each individual.
Having experience in the adult social care sector, along with a deep understanding of dementia and its progression, will enable you to provide the best possible support. Your familiarity with various dementia diagnoses, social care legislation, the Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding issues will empower you to advocate effectively for our residents’ rights and well-being.

About the Home: Part of a large charitable organisation, Connaught Court provides residential care, nursing and residential dementia support. We can support up to 94 residents with permanent care or short-stay respite breaks.
Our in-house Training Manager is here to guide you through your induction programme, and our learning and development team is dedicated to helping you flourish and advance your career. We want you to feel confident and empowered to make the most of each day with us.
Location: Connaught Court, St Oswalds Road, Fulford, York, YO10 4FA. Rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, the home is located close to the city centre in York within walking distance of the bus services. There is free parking on site.
