Mechanical Design Engineer – 6 month contract - West Manchester - Special Purpose Machinery / Robotics - £40-45hr – Hybrid/Home Working Available – Outside IR35 – Immediate Start

Samuel Frank is recruiting for a contract Mechanical Design Engineer to join a successful, bespoke, special purpose machine manufacturer based in West Manchester for a December or early January start.

Successful Mechanical Design Engineer needs to have special purpose / automated machine design experience as well as knowledge of designing manufacturing cells that require robots and/or cobots.

Key aspects of the Mechanical Design Engineer role include:
  • Competent in technical aspects of mechanical design and development of special purpose machinery and/or manufacturing cells using robots/cobots complying with CE Machinery Directive
  • Previous experience of designing for an OEM, a special purpose machine manufacturer or a systems integrator
  • 3D CAD mechanical design experience using SolidWorks
  • Experience of working within a multi-skilled environment (i.e. knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic and electrical components)
  • Able to work out engineering calculations e.g. the force a cylinder would create and/or beam stress calculations
  • Be able to specify servo drives and motors
  • Sheet metal design experience
  • Provide a high level of commercial awareness to ensure design solutions are delivered in a cost-effective manner & design changes are managed in accordance with standard operating procedures

37.5 hours per week – office located in West Manchester, role will involve a week in the office initially then the successful Mechanical Design Engineer could be mainly home-based.

UK driving licence required – occasional day trips to site to carry out surveys will be required.
