About us: Avencia Consulting is partnered with a well-known Specialty Reinsurer based in the City, seeking to hire a Product Director on a permanent basis.
The role: You will lead the vision, strategy, and execution of the product development roadmap for a key data analytics software suite. This role requires strategic thinking, leadership, and hands-on execution to drive innovation, market success, and customer satisfaction. Frequent travel will be required.
Key accountabilities:
- Product Strategy & Vision: Develop a compelling product vision aligned with business goals and market opportunities, including involvement in bids and pitches to external parties globally.
- Roadmap Development: Define and communicate the product roadmap, ensuring alignment with customer needs and technological advances.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with teams across the business to drive product initiatives from conception to launch.
- Customer & Market Insights: Conduct research and gather feedback to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Agile Product Development: Lead the product team in an agile environment, prioritising features and ensuring timely releases.
- Performance Measurement: Define KPIs and use data insights to improve product success.
- Team Leadership & Development: Manage and mentor a team of 10 across London, Dublin, Bermuda, fostering innovation and collaboration.
- Drive Change: Manage change from ideation to implementation, building the team and processes needed.
- Collaboration with Tech Teams: Work with internal and external tech teams to refine requirements and coordinate projects.
- Continuous Improvement: Implement best practices and ensure effective documentation.
- Project Management: Manage risks, issues, deadlines, and dependencies, providing status updates.
- Leadership & Ownership: Promote ownership, accountability, and technical excellence within the team.
- Resource & Efficiency Monitoring: Monitor team productivity and resource use.
- Industry & Product Knowledge: Develop a deep understanding of our industry, products, and services.
- Reporting & Stakeholder Management: Report on progress and ensure stakeholder satisfaction.
- Long-term Focus: Prioritise effective, simple solutions with appropriate controls.
- Project Estimation & Quality Control: Estimate tasks and ensure quality of third-party deliveries.
- Customer Advocacy: Act as a voice-of-customer representative.
- Budget & Effort Tracking: Track budgets, team costs, and efficiency metrics.
- Team Culture & Leadership: Support a culture of innovation, accountability, and process simplification.
Skills & experience:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field (Engineering, Physics, Data Science).
- At least 10 years in a technical product manager or director role within a large organisation.
- Experience managing project budgets and reporting.
- Experience working in regulated environments.
- Ability to deliver objectives with urgency and high standards.
- Proven ability to support innovation effectively.
- Strong leadership and cultural alignment skills.
- Deep understanding of software development, SaaS models, and data analytics trends.
