Location: Isle of Wight

Hours: 40 hours per week (flexible/ hybrid - Mondays & Fridays will be office based)

Days: Monday - Friday

Duration: Permanent

Duties:

  • Liaison with the local authority planning department, external organisations, developers and the public to provide pre-application highways advice.
  • Processing and assessment of the highways elements of planning applications, including undertaking site visits, working to deadlines.
  • Attend committee meetings and planning appeals.
  • Processing and assessment of Highway Agreement applications.
  • Management of detailed records for all schemes including legal and financial agreements.
  • Technical review and analysis of existing network capacity and safety.
  • Assist in the maintenance of highway adoption, highways search and street naming/numbering processes.
  • Ensure adherence to highways regulations and health and safety standards.

Experience:

  • Must have previous experience in Highways or Planning Development Control/ Design including knowledge of the Highways Act, CDM legislation and management of teams and works.
  • A degree level qualification in Planning or Civil Engineering is preferred.
  • Must be able to work well as part of a team with high level communication skills.
  • Must also be able to work to deadlines and be flexible with duties and have the ability to work on own initiative.
  • Must have a full driver's licence.

Subsidised ferry travel may be available for a candidate who is mainland based within commuting distance.

Salary: £42-44,000 per annum (may be flexible for the right candidate)
