The Huawei Edinburgh Research Centre is dedicated to building the next-generation foundational software platform and is now inviting talented individuals with experience or passion in related fields to join us. The centre focuses on empirical research in computer science and works closely with local universities and leading global academic/research institutions. Our research areas cover core system technologies such as databases, systems and distributed computing, programming languages, compilers, knowledge graphs, and positioning and navigation.
Our researchers regularly collaborate with Huawei's expert teams in the UK and globally, driving innovations in fields such as data systems, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and hardware acceleration. Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the technical insight work of the Huawei Edinburgh Research Centre Database Lab, regularly conducting research on database or data management technologies and corresponding top talent scouting, obtaining cutting-edge technology, industry development.
- Assess the application potential and value scenarios of cutting-edge data management technologies, closely communicate with research centre business teams and top database industry experts, participate in top database summits, and assist in formulating the next phase of technology pre-research directions to achieve the feedback of technical insight results.
- Responsible for the output of insight reports, quickly turning cutting-edge technological points and value clues into report documents and organizing internal technical sharing.
- Assist database experts in implementing cutting-edge database technologies into Huawei products.
Skill Requirements:
- Technical Insight Ability: Maintain sensitivity to top-tier cutting-edge technologies in the industry, possess strong technical and industry insight capabilities, and be able to quickly understand, track, and summarise technology trends.
- Foundational Software Skills: Understand basic software-related concepts and architectures, with relevant technical reserves in fields such as large models, systems, databases, compilers, and languages.
- Value Identification Ability: Possess a certain level of business thinking, able to identify the potential commercial application scenarios of technologies, evaluate the value-added capability of technology for business, and provide directional support for the long-term development of technical projects.
- Written Communication Skills: Have excellent bilingual writing skills (Chinese and English), report design, and presentation skills, able to write technical insight reports in a clear, concise, and logically rigorous manner to explain complex technical concepts.
- Communication and Collaboration Skills: Be able to closely collaborate with technical experts and business teams, understand business needs from a technical perspective, and have strong feedback reception abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A background in computer science, engineering, or management is preferred.
- Candidates with experience in technical projects or project development are preferred.
- Candidates with experience in common coding languages will be preferred.
- Familiarity with Office software is preferred.
