Howard Civil Engineering takes early careers seriously, providing an opportunity to gain insight into various areas of the business to aid development and understanding of the construction process. We are currently seeking a passionate Graduate Quantity Surveyor to be based in our head office, Leeds.
After a range of contract wins and extended work awarded on current projects, we can offer a defined route of progression and provide you with the tools and knowledge to become autonomous and productive within the commercial team. You will have access to experienced and knowledgeable professionals to aid your development throughout the process. Below is an overview of your role; Howard Civil Engineering does not expect this from day one, support and guidance will be provided at all times until you are comfortable working independently.
Role Overview- Management of the commercial aspect for your dedicated sites across Yorkshire
- Production of monthly cost & value forecasts
- Preparation, submission, and agreement of monthly applications for payment
- Ensure cost control is maintained
- Measure and value works carried out on site with absolute perfection and detail
- Procurement, assessment, certification, and reconciliation of sub-contractor applications
- Track changes to design and capture variations
- Review progress against programme
- Cost value reconciliation on schemes
- Assist in the tendering process
- Provide contract support to Contracts and Site Managers
- Either graduating in 2024 or have recently completed a suitable masters or bachelor's from a relevant commercial course, a minimum grade of 2:2
- Strong mathematical skills
- Be able to communicate clearly both written and verbal
- Passionate about the civil engineering sector
- Strong I.T skills & competent with Microsoft tools
