Location: Watkins Hire Ltd Lydney, Temperature Control House, Ward Industrial Estate, Church Road, Lydney, GL15 5EL, UK.
We are now recruiting for a depot-based Service Engineer who is a motivated, enthusiastic, hardworking team player with a desire to learn more about steam and hot water boilers. If this sounds of interest, we are keen to add to our existing team based in our Lydney depot/workshop.
What will you be doing?
- Servicing and maintaining a variety of hot water and steam boilers.
- Completing remedial works, diagnosing faults, preparing for insurance inspections and general maintenance.
- Testing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining a fleet of hot water and steam boilers.
- Undertake fault-finding and diagnostic work as required to repair and maintain hire equipment.
- Occasionally supporting installations & attending breakdowns in the field with experienced field engineer.
- Loading and unloading of goods in a correct and safe manner.
- Operating forklift truck as and when required.
- Accurately picking goods/getting materials ready in the depot for hire orders.
- Booking in goods delivered into the depot, ensuring that goods are checked off in an accurate and timely manner and checking for damages and quantity.
- Ensuring all hire fleet equipment and ancillaries are identified correctly/good quality.

What we’re looking for:
- A knowledge of steam boiler design, construction, operation, maintenance, and safety standards.
- A valid certificate of competence in boiler operation, such as the Boiler Operation Accreditation Scheme (BOAS) or the City & Guilds Accredited Steam Boiler Operation Fundamentals course.
- Knowledge of boiler types, boiler fittings, and combustion.
- Ability to perform analysis and diagnosis of heating and hot water systems.
- Manual dexterity and practical intelligence.
- Good communication skills - verbal and written.
- Time management and organisational skills.
- Someone who is not afraid to get stuck in.
