To support our continued growth plans, we have a great opportunity to join our Building and Real Estate Division. SOCOTEC's Building Envelope team provides an award-winning, flexible and forward-thinking approach, as well as a high level of technical capability, providing our clients with cost-effective and practical solutions for the full range of Building Envelope / Façade Engineering problems.
We’re looking for a proactive, flexible and reliable Graduate Façade Engineer to join our London office, with experience in a similar role and who possesses a recognised engineering or architectural qualification. Working across a variety of projects both autonomously and as part of a wider team, tasks you will be required to undertake as part of your role include (but are not limited to):
- Assist in delivering high-quality façade engineering services to our clients, including but not limited to:
- Developing façade designs and associated mark-ups for various buildings projects.
- Providing advisory support and conducting site visits during the construction stage.
- Performing non-intrusive and intrusive investigations as required and preparing assessment reports of the façade and external wall systems.
- Work reliably, professionally, and effectively with others (internally and externally), manage time effectively (including regularly filling in timesheets), and operate within the limits of competency.
- Collaborate within a team environment and provide support to other team members when required.
- Assist driving the technical development of the façade engineering team, working in cooperation with other senior team members.
- Ensure SOCOTEC systems and policies are followed and assist with their development and continuous improvement (e.g., internal procedures, templates, or similar).
- Maintain records to ensure the company’s Quality Procedures, service levels, and contractual requirements are met.
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering (mechanical, structural, civil or a similar field).
- Possess or working towards MSc in Façade Engineering from The University of Bath or The University of the West of England in Bristol or an equivalent qualification.
- Knowledge / experience in façade engineering.
- Knowledge of building construction and façade systems, with the ability to assess façade defects.
- Familiar with all mainstream façade materials, understanding their performance and degradation modes.
- Familiar with British, European, and other international standards.
- Confident communicator with excellent customer service skills.
- Self-motivated, capable of prioritising and working independently, as well as following instructions and collaborating within a team.
- Numerate, organized, and detail-oriented.
- Exhibits professional appearance and behaviour.
- Flexible and adaptable to meet customer needs and changing priorities.
- Reliable, punctual, honest, and trustworthy.
