Working with one of BakerHicks' key clients in the Nuclear sector, working in a highly regulated environment, subject to strict security and safety requirements, this client provides customers with engineering and project management services, as well as digital services and solutions to optimize the performance of complex infrastructure projects throughout their life cycle.
You will join our client project as a Process Mechanical Engineer and will have the opportunity to develop your expertise while contributing to projects that ensure operational excellence and adherence to stringent regulatory standards. This role is a 12 month+ contract and will require 3 days onsite at the end client facilities.
What you will do
- Support the development, review, and improvement of engineering processes, ensuring efficiency and compliance with nuclear safety standards.
- Conduct process simulations and analysis to identify areas for optimization.
- Assist in creating process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Ensure processes adhere to national and international nuclear regulations (e.g., ONR, IAEA, or NRC guidelines).
- Maintain detailed documentation for audits, licensing, and compliance purposes.
- Participate in hazard analyses, risk assessments, and safety case reviews.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve process issues.
- Provide technical support during commissioning, start-up, and routine operations.
- Monitor process performance and recommend improvements to enhance safety and efficiency.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and project proposals.
- Contribute to project planning, budgeting, and scheduling for process-related tasks.
- Support the delivery of projects within agreed timelines and budgets.
What you will bring
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Process, or Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline).
- Knowledge of process engineering fundamentals, including thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer.
- Familiarity with industry-standard software tools (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, MATLAB, AutoCAD).
- Strong understanding of safety, quality, and environmental considerations in a regulated environment.
- The successful candidate must currently hold SC security clearance for this role as required by our client.
