The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

You will be responsible for putting people to work and supervising them during the course of the works, creating a safe working environment, ensuring teams are trained as appropriate and sufficient control is in place to ensure all health and safety risks are mitigated to an acceptable level and this must be visibly demonstrated. Ensuring people arrive on site and leave on site at scheduled times to ensure they have enough hours on site to complete the allocated work. Monitoring and ensuring the quality of the work being carried out and its adherence to the prescribed installation standards. Protecting landowners, occupiers and the general public from our works by suitable barrier systems with adequate warning notices. Take reasonable steps to ensure that Ipsum act as a good corporate citizen and that all works consider the wants and needs of residents and businesses in the area and we do not do anything that could generate complaints or bad publicity on social media. Consider start/finish time, parking of vehicles, noise, appearance of our staff, vehicles and plant and that any enquiries on site are politely dealt with.

Your New Role Principal Accountabilities:

  • Day to day management of site operatives, sub-contractors and site work.
  • Ensure you take reasonable steps to establish that staff being put to work are competent to undertake the task that is being requested of them.
  • Ensure reasonable steps have been undertaken to carry out actions to mitigate or reduce risks and hazards to an acceptable level and that the team apply Ipsum First 10 principles to every job.
  • Ensure consideration is given to relevant safety information from available sources e.g., pre-site survey risk assessment, generic or specific risk assessments and method statements, HSS policies and procedures (GSOPs and DSOPs).
  • Ensure sufficient time and resources are available to undertake the task safely and to the required quality.
  • The Person in Charge of Safety (PICoS) is nominated and understands his duties.
  • Ensure all work Instructions are clear and provide all necessary information to enable the task to be undertaken safely.
  • Ensure the people receiving the instructions clearly understand what is being asked of them.
  • Ensure all the relevant PPE equipment for the task is understood and adequate for the task and PPE is in good condition and available on site.
  • Ensure emergency arrangements and provisions have been considered in relation to the work and are clear on the Construction Phase Plan (CPP) and where required rehearsed.
  • Ensure that the welfare of staff is considered and site arrangements comply with HSS 01 144.
  • Supervising Act as a role model for SHEQ compliance.
  • Never walk by any unsafe act or unsafe condition.
  • Take responsibility for dealing with situations like this in a firm, decisive manner, stopping the job if necessary.
  • Liaise, when necessary, with SHEQ Advisors or Project Managers to get assistance if required.
  • Conduct supervision visits to the frequency and duration outlined in the Supervision section of the CPP.
  • Review the daily POWRA site teams have completed and give feedback on their compliance with best practice, offering guidance on improvement initiatives.
  • Co-ordinate resources to ensure delivery of required daily productivity.
  • If site conditions dictate a change of plan which means teams will be underutilised, notify this immediately to the Resource Scheduler so they can be re-deployed.

  • Support SHEQ in toolbox talks, accident/incident reports, QA memos, liaise, when necessary, with SHEQ Advisors.
  • Carry out your target number of safety Leadership Tours.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for any onsite technical issues to the best of your abilities.

About You Required Qualifications & Professional Membership(s):

  • SSSTS, SMSTS.
  • Preferred NRSWA full Supervisor Street works card.
  • Must hold a full UK driving license for at least 12 months.
  • UKPN competence for putting people to work on electricity distribution system (Desirable).
  • UKPN Entry to Substation.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Risk assessment and hazard identification and a strong focus on Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental practices including New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, Construction Design Management Regulations 2015.
  • Managing teams on multiple sites, ordering materials to correct specification, arranging plant and materials deliveries.
  • Opening and closing street work notices and permits.
  • Have experience of working and building relationships with Local Authorities.
  • DNO network knowledge especially in civils operations.

Skills & Personal Qualities:

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to work proactively on your own or in a team.
  • Be able to prioritise workload.
  • Ensure work is to a high standard when working on client sites.
