Link Recruitment are working with a small to medium sized engineering consultancy that have been providing project management and engineering-based advisory, consultancy and managed services solutions to UK infrastructure clients for over 20 years. They carry out multi-disciplinary design packages and support clients with turnkey domain expertise in their teams.
Location: London - flexible to travel between Office (Canary Wharf) and various client offices.
Job Summary:
- Day-to-day you will be involved in the management, analysis and resolution of medium complexity or technical problems, providing technical guidance, advice and expertise to senior internal and external stakeholders, interpreting technical strategy, checking designs, associated drawings, information, calculations and research.
- You will be required to assist in planning, coordinating and executing engineering projects, as well as representing us at client facing meetings with confidence and credibility.
- You will be working closely and directly with external/client staff, key stakeholders and the internal team.
- Have a broad experience of applying professional engineering judgement to support significant value programmes, projects or operational activities in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Prepare, coordinate and monitor the assigned engineering projects and deliverables.
- Interpretation and implementation of client specification requirements in the development of designs and engineering solutions.
- Undertake and monitor the project engineering team’s tasks in accordance with the company’s quality, safety and project management/engineering procedures and controls.
- Accountable for the effective delivery of the project engineering tasks and deliverables of Projects to time, to the required quality.
- Inputs to the formulation of technical proposals and their presentation to potential clients.
- Maintain good relationships with client’s key representatives, and contribute to the marketing/networking of the company to potential customers.
- Monitor compliance to relevant TfL or Network Rail, British and International standards, Regulations, health safety and environmental considerations including CDM regulations.
- Communicate with the Project Manager and wider team providing engineering support and services to a project.
- Ensure all engineering activities are carried out with consideration to key stakeholders in interfacing environments.
- Contribute to the overall team development and growth through strategic inputs, skill development and mentoring intermediate and graduate engineers.
- Manage and plan your work and deliverables while working on multiple projects to meet the expected delivery milestones.
- Undertake and monitor design reviews in accordance with requirements and programme.
- Leads a culture of continuous improvement through the identification of best practice, innovation, whole life cost optimisation and effective root cause analysis.
- Undertake engineering resource forecasting activities for projects and programmes.
Essential Criteria:
- Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (BSc, MSc or MEng).
- At least 7+ years of previous professional engineering design/design management experience on transportation projects is required, ideally with involvement in both construction and design projects across multi-discipline areas.
- Experience in the Rail Industry and a sound understanding of the Rail Environment, rules and regulations.
- Experience and excellent knowledge of TfL Pathway or Network Rail GRIP, PACE and engineering standards and specifications including the whole project lifecycle.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work under pressure within time constraints.
- Displayed ability to learn quickly and driven to broaden knowledge base.
- Proven capability to build relationships, be proactive and be part of a variety of teams, including multidisciplinary teams.
- Broad experience of influencing a wide range of stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience managing teams of 5+ people.
- Computer literate and good experience of computer software programs such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Project).
- Knowledge of Safety Management and Quality Assurance.
- Member of relevant professional body with chartership or working towards chartered status.
Desirable Criteria:
- Chartered status or equivalent in the particular discipline.
- Production of design deliverables - packages of drawings, specifications, etc. and supervision of engineers.
