TSR Legal are proud to be working in partnership with a respected UK law firm to recruit a Legal Cashier Supervisor for their busy Bristol-based finance team. This newly available position offers the opportunity to lead and support a team of legal cashiers while maintaining hands-on involvement in key finance operations. The Role
Reporting to the Accounts Manager, the Legal Cashier Supervisor will take on a dual role of overseeing the day-to-day workflow of the cashiering team while actively contributing to the processing of financial transactions. This role is crucial to ensuring compliance with Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules and delivering efficient and timely financial support to the wider business.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervisory Duties:
- Allocate and oversee daily tasks within the cashiering team
- Support the month-end reconciliation and reporting process
- Act as first point of contact for internal cashiering queries
- Deliver training for new and existing team members, as well as other departments
- Assist with internal compliance, audits, and ad-hoc financial reviews
- Support performance reviews and team development
- Monitor and test finance systems and processes where needed
- Process client and office account receipts with precision and speed
- Manage inter-account transfers and ensure appropriate authorisations
- Conduct daily bank reconciliations and resolve any payment discrepancies
- Handle interest calculations, disbursement postings, and petty cash reconciliations
- Maintain suspense account and ensure prompt return of unclaimed monies
- Process payments, cheque requests, and Chrome River disbursements in line with firm policy
About You
- At least 2 years' experience in a similar legal cashiering role
- Previous supervisory experience within a finance or legal team
- Solid working knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules
- Strong IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office and finance systems (Elite 3E, Chrome River, or similar)
- Confident communicator with a proactive, team-focused mindset
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
