Primary Purpose of the Role
To co-ordinate, support and advise the Business on all aspects with regards to Health and Safety. To establish, manage and monitor standards, processes, communications, training and systems to ensure all responsibilities associated with Health and Safety with DSV are adhered to. To ensure the site is following all Health and Safety Regulations and processes.
Key Tasks
- Ensure a safe workplace environment.
- Ensure that all health & safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.
- Ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.
- Ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operation.
- Ensure all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented.
- Ensure full and accurate health and safety training records are maintained.
- Co-ordinate the development of health & safety policies, systems of work and practice.
- Establish a structured programme of health & safety training throughout the Site.
- Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety and welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to the business.
- Manage and devise agenda for, chair and formulate and distribute minutes of health and safety committee meetings.
- Ensure that all agreed action points are completed within deadlines.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Understand and comply with all relevant Company rules, agreements, policies, procedures and with all relevant legislative requirements and codes of practice.
- Ensure Company business is treated in the strictest confidence and not disclosed to persons outside the Company.
- Act in a professional manner, ensure good working relationships are always maintained and promote a good image of the Company.
- Maintain and comply with all Health, Safety and Environmental standards, to be aware of the Occupational Health & Safety Management System, and to appreciate the responsibility you must adhere to the respective procedures.
- Ensure a good standard of housekeeping through observance of relevant Company policies and ensure that work areas are secure and locked when unoccupied.
- Where appropriate challenge and determine reasons for presence on site of any unauthorised person.
Skills and Competencies
- Education & Qualifications: NEBOSH & ISOSH.
- Experience: NEBOSH (general Certificate) qualified for working towards NEBOSH certificate accreditation. Member of Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). Handling of H & S investigations. Experience of formulating, implementing and revising H&S policies and procedures. COSH.
- Specialist Knowledge & Skills: Confidential in all matters. Ability to work co-operatively with others to complete tasks and implement process improvements. Excellent planning, organisational and time management. Ability to work in, and adapt to a rapidly changing environment. Ability to work on own initiative. Gathering, analysing and reporting on key H&S data/statistics. Knowledge of Microsoft packages.
- Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills. Professional approach coupled with strong interpersonal skills.
- Other: Flexible and co-operative always. Self-motivated.
