Responsibilities include adjusting, settling, and managing claims arising on policies underwritten by W/R/B Underwriting (WRBU) related to Berkley Professional Liability (BPro) and, when necessary, Berkley Alliance Managers (BAM), following agreed authority limits and WRBU's Claims Management Policies and Procedures.
Manage the company's claims exposure proactively and efficiently, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards. Protect the company's financial interests by validating claims payments and maintaining adequate reserves.
Provide prompt and efficient service to customers, adhering to the Treating Customers Fairly principles. Communicate claims developments, trends, and significant losses to stakeholders appropriately. Ensure effective interaction of Claims Management with all relevant Syndicate and affiliate stakeholders.
Maintain claims activities in line with claims philosophy, standards, and authority limits. Handle claims submissions promptly and efficiently within service level agreements, from notification to resolution. Appoint and oversee service providers, developing strategies for claim resolution.
Collaborate with brokers, co-insurers, and customers on claims issues. Ensure claims records are accurate and current on internal systems and manage workflow via ECF2 and other platforms. Work with WRBU and BPro senior management and underwriting teams to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.
Participate in Claims Management duties such as reviews, reserving, reinsurance analysis, and other projects. Engage in professional, technical, and career development training. Perform other similar duties as reasonably requested within your expertise, with periodic reviews and updates.
Coordinate with WRB Underwriting functions like Underwriting, Actuarial, Risk Management, Finance, and Compliance to enhance claims management. Attend relevant WRB Underwriting meetings and committees as required.
Qualifications include excellent communication skills to explain complex issues clearly and succinctly, ability to build trust and network effectively internally and externally, and a professional, approachable attitude to interact with management, colleagues, and external suppliers.
Strong presentation skills, effective time management skills to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential. The ability to use initiative and solve problems as they arise is also required.
