Leader Recruitment Group, a premier agency specialising in recruitment for children's residential care, is excited to represent our client in their search for a compassionate and experienced Senior Support Worker to join a therapeutic children's home in Hemel Hempstead. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior or experienced Children's Support Worker to take on a rewarding role with a growing organisation that champions excellence, passion, integrity, and caring.

As a Senior Support Worker, you will help deliver high-quality, therapeutic care to children and young people with complex needs, emotional and behavioural difficulties, or challenging behaviour, making every day extraordinary for those in your care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the team to provide a safe and nurturing environment, supporting young people's positive development.
  • Assist in the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring professional and competent delivery of care under the guidance of the Service Manager.
  • Lead and support colleagues to provide therapeutic care tailored to each child's needs, promoting recovery, growth, and lasting change.
  • Act as a positive role model for children and colleagues, building trusting relationships to meet everyday living needs.
  • Record events, observations, and progress reports, contributing to the development and implementation of care plans.
  • Ensure adherence to safeguarding procedures and organisational policies to promote the welfare of young people.
  • Work flexibly, covering long day shifts, weekends, and sleep-in duties (approx. 4-8 per month).
Candidate Requirements
  • Minimum of 12 months' experience in children's residential care or knowledge of child-centred, therapeutic models.
  • Level 3 qualification in Caring for Children and Young People (CYPW) or Residential Childcare.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Excellent communication skills and a naturally caring, flexible, and resilient approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, young people, and external professionals.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Flexibility to work long day shifts, weekends, and sleep-in duties as required.

  • Competitive salary of £15.40 - £16.00 per hour, plus £3,000-£6,000 per annum for sleep-ins.
