Job Summary
Performs setup and operation of press brake to efficiently produce high-quality steel, stainless steel, or aluminum parts that meet customer specifications. The operator must have good hand-eye coordination, steady hands, and the ability to interpret plans and follow written and verbal instructions. Strong analytical and mathematical skills are required to interpret drawings, templates, and blueprints. Ability to read gauges and measurement tools to ensure adherence to tolerances. Protective clothing, eyewear, and boots are normally required.
Essential Functions
- Calculate bend allowances for formed parts.
- Identify appropriate tooling for part designs.
- Set up and program the press brake for jobs.
- Form parts according to specifications and verify compliance.
- Ensure quality procedures are followed to meet requirements.
- Identify and control nonconforming parts.
- Package completed orders and complete documentation.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience operating a press brake in the metals industry.
- Knowledge of tooling and setup procedures for various metal thicknesses.
- Ability to calculate bend allowances for different metal thicknesses.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
- Proficiency with tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and angle finders.
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking); able to follow instructions.
- Team player capable of working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Physical Demands
- Lift, carry, push, or pull 1-50 lbs frequently; manual dexterity and visual acuity required.
- Frequently squat, kneel, bend, twist, grasp, and reach overhead/outward.
- Sit, stand, and walk for 1-10 hours daily.
- Work in environments with temperatures of 55-85°F.
- Wear hearing protection, eye protection, steel-toed shoes, and other protective gear.
