Laser Machine Operator

Responsibilities:

1. Laser cut parts from metal sheet and plate.
2. Load program created from the Cad/Cam programmers into the machine, check material and data is correct to job sheet and drawing.
3. Locate required material and transport to machine with forklift then load onto machine cutting table using the vacuum lifter / automation.
4. Check first off for approval and check parts at regular intervals.
5. When all parts cut, remove parts from machine, stack on pallet / trolley and transport to next operation.
6. Make sure machine is in good running order at all times and conduct basic maintenance to keep walkways clear and safe for other staff.
7. Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times.

Educational/Qualifications Required:

• Engineering apprenticeship / college-based qualification
• Forklift driver\’s license
• Manual Handling knowledge
• Other tertiary qualification an advantage (technical)

KPA:

• Prepare machine

Tasks:

• Ensure machine bed is clear and flat. Check health & safety procedures.
• Locate materials.
• Remove materials from racking.
• Load onto machine using vacuum lifter / automation.

Load Program and Run Production:

• Correctly identify software and locate on server.
• Load program into machine.

Remove Materials:

• Remove components and scrap.
• Discard scrap in the skip (H&S).

Quality Control:

• Once machine has been prepared and loaded with material, check first-off.
• Stop run to check dimensions and quality is correct during each job.
• If needed, make necessary adjustments.
• Allow machine to commence.
• Once production is done – during unloading use visual checks to ensure undamaged parts.
• Once complete, parts need to go to the next operation.
