The Featured Artists Coalition (FAC) is the UK's not-for-profit body representing the rights and interests of music artists. We are an inclusive community that advocates, educates, collaborates and researches on behalf of artists, coming together to provide a strong, collective voice within the industry and to governments domestically and abroad.

In an unprecedented time for the music industry, the FAC's remit, membership and influence has grown as the organisation has become a campaigning voice on issues such as post-Brexit touring, artificial intelligence, grassroots touring and the music streaming economy. The FAC is a founding member of the Council of Music Makers and the International Artist Organisation, and sits as a member body on the boards of UK Music and LIVE, operating across numerous committees on initiatives and policies that impact artists.

The role: The FAC is seeking a Membership and Communications Co-Ordinator to act as the first point of contact for the FAC's artist members, handle the organisation's comms channels (including social media, the FAC's fortnightly newsletters and website) and assist with other general duties of the organisation. The role provides the chance to gain experience working with the FAC's Board and Artist Council, as well as the committees on which the FAC holds seats across the music industry. There will also be engagement with other artist groups that are part of the FAC community, such as the FAC Ambassadors who support the work that the FAC does. The successful candidate will be an integral part of a small team, which delivers a varied and ambitious programme of work in a very fast-paced environment.

Candidate profile: The role provides a brilliant opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is keen to gain broad experience in the UK's music industry and who is motivated to develop expertise in a wide range of areas. The candidate will be highly organised and will have a strong interest in social media and content. The position is suited to a self-starter who is also able to take direction, to support the members of the team, board and the wider organisation's work. The successful candidate will be proactive, diligent and a problem solver. Music industry experience is not essential; however, the candidate will have an interest and passion for music.

Responsibilities – Communications:

  • Creating content, scheduling, writing copy, creating news articles for i) the FAC's fortnightly newsletter, ii) website, and iii) various social media channels.
  • Compiling, drafting and distributing the FAC's fortnightly member newsletter.
  • Managing output and growing engagement of social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok).
  • Managing and maintaining the FAC website.
  • Promoting events via comms channels.
  • Supporting FAC marketing activities and campaigns across channels.

Responsibilities – Team support & administration:

  • Organising meetings, minute taking, reporting on membership and comms stats.
  • On-site events assistance.
  • Assist with communication and engagement with FAC Artist Ambassadors.
  • General assistance of the wider team and board.
  • Assist CEO and Partnership & Programme Manager in general administrative tasks.

Responsibilities – Membership:

  • Be the first point of contact for FAC artist member enquiries.
  • Ensure efficient running of the membership system and troubleshoot general issues.
  • Building online communities through membership platforms such as Circle.
  • Manage payment gateway and any issues arising.
  • Liaise with system consultant to resolve membership system issues.
  • Building internal and external relationships to assist with strategies to grow the FAC community and membership.
  • Attend relevant meetings on behalf of the FAC, representing the organisation on areas of work such as communications, education and events across the music industry.

Responsibilities – Other: The candidate may be required to fulfil other duties outside of these core responsibilities from time to time.

Essential skills and competencies:

  • Highly motivated, proactive and delivery focused, with an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously whilst meeting deadlines.
  • A strong communicator able to develop relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent written skills with the ability to proofread and develop high quality, engaging articles and content.

  • Comfortable in rolling up sleeves to support the team across all aspects of our work.
  • Enthusiastic about building and maintaining meaningful relationships with a range of stakeholders and a proud representative of the FAC.
  • A thirst for developing expertise and knowledge through continued, self-driven learning.
