Job Opportunity: Support Worker in Ammanford

We have an exciting opportunity for passionate and caring individuals to join our dedicated team of Support Workers in our Supported Living service in Ammanford. This includes a 33-hour, 3-month fixed-term position, and part-time (18 & 20 hours) permanent positions. The service operates 24/7, requiring various shift patterns including days, evenings, weekends, and sleep-in shifts on a rolling rota. Day shifts typically run from 7am-11pm, with sleep-in shifts as additional responsibilities. A full UK manual driving license is required due to the needs of the individuals supported. The role is female-only due to the specific needs of the individuals.

Who are Pobl Group?

Pobl Group employs over 2,300 colleagues providing diverse services across Wales. Our Care team offers registered care services throughout South Wales, supporting individuals to live positive, independent lives in their own homes.

What is the role?

This service supports 6 individuals aged between 22 and 70 with learning disabilities. You will assist with daily independence, skill enhancement, activities, and emotional support, following the “do with, not do for” approach, which has positively impacted these individuals.

The individuals enjoy social activities and days out. Your role will be to enable them to lead fulfilling, independent lives and see the tangible difference you make.

You will support with:

  • Medication administration
  • Cooking and household skills
  • Community access and social groups
  • Hobbies and activities
  • Teamwork and communication

  • Encouraging life skills and independence through activities
  • Outings, requiring a full manual driving license
  • Cleaning and administrative duties
  • Bringing new ideas and methods to the team
  • Supporting individual needs

Commitment to shift patterns is essential.

Skills and Experience

Experience with learning, physical, or mental health needs is preferred but not essential, as full training is provided. Key qualities include:

  • Passion for enabling independence
  • Enthusiasm for making a difference
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Pay and Benefits

  • Hourly rate of £12.75, annual salary approximately £24,531 (FTE)
  • Sleep-in rate of £62.64
