The Vacancy

Job Title: Mobile Maintenance Electrician (AST)

Location: Maldon, Witham & Chelmsford (Kent/Essex region)

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £40,593.78 Total Salary (inclusive of standby (1:4 x 13 periods) & competency payment*)

Role Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mobile Maintenance Electrician to join our company, working with one of our major UK supermarket clients. The role involves maintaining and repairing electrical, mechanical, and catering equipment across retail outlets, including regular store visits for reactive work, PPMs, and minor repairs as requested by the customer.

Key Responsibilities

1. Complete the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule within agreed timescales, ensuring all paperwork is accurately completed.
2. Deliver reactive and planned maintenance for catering and bakery equipment.
3. Conduct emergency lighting and fire alarm tests and repairs.
4. Perform general repairs and maintenance at customer sites as designated by management.
5. Identify non-repairable faults in plant and machinery and advise the Line Manager with recommendations for replacement.

Qualifications / Experience

1. NVQ Level 3/City and Guilds 236 Part 1 + 2 or equivalent in electrical installation/maintenance.
2. City and Guilds 18th Edition.
3. AM2 / 2391.

*An additional £1,500 competency payment is available upon completion of electrical fault training for catering and bakery equipment, provided during the probation period through two one-week training blocks.

The Ideal Candidate

1. Full driving license.
2. Experience using a PDA system.
3. Ability to maintain and repair a wide range of electrical and mechanical equipment, e.g., commercial catering/bakery.
4. Experience in PPM and reactive maintenance within a retail environment.
