The Controls Project Engineer position is part of the projects team, within the commercial controls division. This key individual will work on a mixture of internal and external projects, depending on project requirements. The position officially reports to the Head of Projects, however a dotted line relationship to each project manager in the team will be established based on which project the engineer is assigned to work on.
The Controls Project Engineer role is a key position within the projects team, assisting the project managers with day to day on site running of the larger projects on the books. The engineer will be assigned to one large or multiple smaller projects at any one time, with a dotted line into the overall project manager for that particular job. A mixture of office and site work will be required, including some supervision of sub-contract installers where required.
- Preparing, scheduling, coordinating and monitoring assigned technical and engineering projects
- On site supervision of works and management of sub-contractors
- Ensure H&S standards are being strictly adhered to
- Site surveys / progress reviews where necessary
- Liaise with Customers and Project Engineers / Managers
- Resolving any problems with the internal/external teams, plan and budget to ensure that the project flows smoothly
- Provide reports detailing where and how controls projects and products can be improved for greater quality & profitability on delivery
- Troubleshoot & resolve site issues
- Customer connection to update of progress on commissioning works
- Help maintain a high standard of quality control across the department
- Responsibility for delivering assigned workload on time and to a high standard
- Maintain brand reputation
Required Skills & Experiences
- Experience within HVAC/BMS/Engineering projects environment, either from an on-site engineers perspective or an office support role
- Competent electrical knowledge and capable of understanding electrical drawings
- Competent HVAC and/or BMS knowledge, capable of understanding engineered systems to a high level
- SSSTS or SMSTS qualified or willing to undertake
- Ability to operate to a high level in a fast paced environment potentially on multiple projects simultaneously
- Experienced with site/construction works and knowledge of relevant H&S standards
- Logical and methodical approach to problem solving using own initiative is a must
- Awareness of the industry, its technology and application
- Good written & communication skills including report writing
- Strong interpersonal / organisational skills
- The ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines
- CSCS or equivalent held (or willing to undertake)
- Awareness of BMS/DCIM and common communication protocols (Modbus, BACnet, TCP/IP)
- Knowledge of IT systems, servers and communication networks
- Experience with Tridium Niagara 4 & AX software and controllers
