W Italian is a warm and friendly Italian Bar and Restaurant based in Wickersley, Rotherham. They have a fantastic opportunity for a Production Chef Level 2 apprentice to join their friendly team in the kitchen. They are looking for someone with a flair and passion for food and who can work as part of a team.

Duties
  • Check, prepare, assemble, cook, regenerate, hold and present food meeting the needs of the customers and maintaining organisational standards and procedures.
  • Use kitchen tools and equipment correctly to produce consistently high quality dishes according to specifications.
  • Take responsibility for the cleanliness, organisation and smooth running of the work area.

Uniform will be provided for this position.

Entry Requirements
  • Math and English Grade 4/C are desirable but not essential.
  • A natural interest in food, diet, and preparing meals.
  • Experience in working in a restaurant kitchen is desirable.

Training to be Provided
  • 1-2-1 teaching and observations.
  • A training specialist will coach, teach, and support you at the workplace on a one-to-one basis, visiting at regular and agreed intervals.
  • Face to face teaching online over Teams as a group made up of other apprentices at different employers.
  • Tutorials - Regular 1-2-1 tutorial time remotely with a specialist trainer.
  • E-learning; An e-learning platform with work and activities for apprentices to complete.
  • Maths and English will be covered if you don't already have these qualifications.
Things to Consider

This is a physical and active role, and you will need to be alert and have the ability to get involved. Working hours are flexible, with a minimum of 20 hours and a maximum of 40 hours per week across 7 days, including bank holidays, but rota dependent. Salary is £7.90ph for ages 16-17, £10.10ph for ages 18-20, and £11.44ph for ages 21+.

Future Prospects

As a fully qualified Production Chef, you will work as part of a team in a time-bound and often challenging kitchen environment. You will report to the Senior Production Chef or appropriate line manager, working with standardised recipes and menus, producing food, often in high volumes. You will apply highly methodical organisational skills, energy, accuracy, as well as attention to detail and will be mindful of the importance of sustainability and protecting the environment.
