Fleet Mechanic 1

JOB TITLE: Fleet Mechanic 1, 2 or 3
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Public Work/Fleet
SUPERVISOR: Fleet Supervisor

Position Summary:
Under direct supervision of the Fleet Supervisor, services and conducts a variety of repairs on automobiles, trucks, and light equipment. Provides fueling for remote vehicles and performs all phases of tire maintenance regarding county equipment. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.

Minimum Qualifications for the Fleet Mechanic 1:

1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. Two years of experience in maintenance and repair of automotive, diesel or construction equipment.
3. Must possess, or ability to obtain within sixty days of employment, and maintain a New Mexico CDLB driver’s license.
4. Successful completion of mandatory drug screening and subsequent random drug and alcohol screenings.

Preferred Qualifications for the Fleet Mechanics:

1. Associate degree from an accredited college or university in Auto Mechanics.
2. Automotive Service Excellence Certification.
3. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Transit Bus certification.
