About this role

The post holder will be responsible for the buying and contract management of a number of Grain's varied products and services (both directs and indirects) such as vehicles, equipment, materials, mobile products and services, marketing and IT to name a few. To be successful in this role you should have strong experience in buying, price negotiations and contracts across multiple categories, a hands-on collaborative approach and possess the ability to create sourcing strategies and lead contractual negotiations across a broad range of categories.

Main responsibilities

  • Lead on sourcing activities including identifying and qualifying new suppliers, constructing ITTs, RFPs and tender adjudication and presentation of responses.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers ensuring contractual terms are fit for purpose and provide the necessary contractual cover for the business.
  • Lead on negotiating whole life cost improvements within the supply chain and identify and qualify new sources of supply for broader benefits.
  • Creating and presenting both cost models and tender evaluation models.
  • Establish supplier performance KPIs and manage in life performance and identify opportunities for cost and performance improvement.
  • Develop risk mitigation for higher risk suppliers and products.
  • Implement local catalogue for growing external spending ensuring continuity of supply.
  • Leading a small team.

Skills & Experience required

  • MCIPS professional procurement qualification or BA or BS degree or other advanced degree in business administration, economics, purchasing or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum five years experience in procurement roles leading sourcing activities and negotiating pricing and commercial terms (competitive and non-competitive).
  • Knowledge of telecommunications and/or technology industries is desirable.
  • Experience in managing supplier improvement programmes and performance reviews.
  • Good working knowledge of contracts and terms and conditions and the ability to negotiate them.
  • Ability to work unsupervised in a rapidly growing organisation and respond quickly to requirements, prioritising effectively.
  • High working level of Excel and PowerPoint with an ability to create cost models.
  • Analytical with strong communication skills at all levels, attention to detail and the ability to work across the organisation.
  • Close day-to-day working with Finance and Operations is essential.

Working hours

This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm.
