Role Objective
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Health and Safety Business Partner to join our Contracting division. This pivotal role focuses on enhancing our health and safety framework, ensuring conformity and driving improvement initiatives across our contracting operations. We are looking for an engaged professional who can help cultivate a robust safety culture and collaborate effectively with diverse teams, whilst communicating effectively with Tier 1 suppliers to enhance and develop relationships. This is a hybrid role, with time split between the Head Office in Leicester and across our network of sites, spread across the country, so national travel will be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety strategies in line with the company's objectives.
  • Ensure stringent compliance with all health, safety, and environmental legislation, advocating for best practices organization-wide.
  • Lead discussions, communications, and interactions with key external stakeholders, existing clients, and potential future customers.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify hazards and implement preventive measures.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior management, guiding informed decisions towards safety leadership.
  • Lead investigations into incidents to determine root causes and propose corrective actions.
  • Design and deliver training programs to boost safety awareness and skills across the workforce.
  • Work with operational teams to study incident data and create initiatives to mitigate future risks.

About You
Possess a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent in occupational health and safety. Demonstrable experience in a senior health and safety role in the Highways, Civil Engineering, Utilities, Rail, or Oil and Gas industries would be an advantage but is not essential. Proven ability to develop and execute health and safety strategies effectively. Outstanding communication skills, capable of engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels. Strong analytical skills to evaluate risks and enforce suitable safety interventions. Proficient with safety management systems and data analysis tools. Comfortable working in a collaborative setting with solid independent decision-making skills.
