Due to significant growth and an expanding portfolio of projects, we are seeking a skilled 33kV Tendering Engineer to join the team and contribute to the delivery of cutting-edge electrical connections.
Role Overview:
As a 33kV Tendering Engineer, you will be responsible for preparing and managing tenders for high-voltage electrical connections (up to 33kV), ensuring that all bids are competitive, accurate, and compliant with industry standards. This role involves collaborating with clients, design engineers, and project delivery teams to develop technical and commercial solutions for new private network connections, renewable energy projects, and grid connection schemes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tender Preparation: Lead the preparation of high-quality technical and commercial tenders for projects up to 33kV, including grid connections, private networks, and renewable energy infrastructure (solar, wind, battery storage, etc.).
- Technical Assessments: Review project specifications, connection offers, and technical drawings to identify design and engineering requirements for tender submissions.
- Cost Estimation: Provide accurate cost estimates for labour, materials, plant, and subcontractor services, ensuring profitability and competitiveness.
- Client Liaison: Act as a point of contact for clients, discussing project scopes, clarifying technical details, and understanding their needs to provide tailored solutions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with design, planning, and delivery teams to ensure tenders are fully aligned with project execution capabilities and timelines.
- Risk Management: Identify risks and opportunities associated with tender submissions and ensure that risks are factored into costings and proposals.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all tenders comply with relevant industry standards (G99, G100, etc.) and DNO/IDNO specifications.
- Market Research: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, changes in regulations, and emerging technologies within the electrical infrastructure and renewable energy sectors.
- Bid Presentation: Assist in preparing professional and persuasive tender documents, proposals, and presentations for submission to clients and stakeholders.
Key Requirements:
- Qualifications: Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline. Relevant industry certifications (e.g., IOSH, Prince2) are advantageous but not essential.
- Experience: Proven experience in tendering, estimating, or project engineering within the electrical connections industry, specifically up to 33kV. Strong understanding of ICP/DNO/IDNO processes and private network connections. Experience with renewable energy projects such as solar farms, wind turbines, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). Familiarity with grid connection processes, including G99, G100, and ENA standards.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in interpreting electrical designs, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and HV protection schemes. Knowledge of industry software (e.g., Amtech, AutoCAD, or similar) is desirable. Ability to carry out cost estimations, material take-offs, and procurement assessments.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and internal stakeholders. Excellent organisational and time-management skills to meet tender deadlines. A proactive approach with strong problem-solving abilities.
