About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Events team at York Barbican. The Events Manager is responsible for planning and delivery of events by liaising with tour reps and event organisers to ensure their event is delivered in a coordinated and safe manner.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide promoters and event organisers with venue information, advice and manage the client through the event planning process to event delivery.
- Create on-sale plans, and develop room layout designs as per the client’s requirements.
- Ensure venue checks are complete and the venue is kept as safe as possible for customers and guests.
- Direct liaison with the Promoter Rep / Event Organiser assisting with any issues back of house.
- Work with the Event Organiser to provide solutions and compromise to queries.
- Book appropriate levels of staff for events both internally and via contractors.
- Produce detailed event information for circulation to relevant parties and answer any further event queries.
- Attend event meetings and brief teams on upcoming events.
- Work closely with all other Arena departments to ensure the highest possible standards of customer service and the delivery of the best possible event experience.
- Be the ‘glue’ that pieces all the other departments’ event requirements together.
- Produce costings for upcoming events and forecasts.
- Ensure clients are aware of the costs and recharges associated with their event.
- Provide input for the annual department budget.
Skills and Experience:
- Have a minimum of 2 years in the events industry or transferable skills from a similar role.
- Previous experience of crowd management.
- Ability to build good working relationships with team members, clients, contractors and visiting production teams.
- Practical experience in writing risk assessments and safety documentation.
- Be competent in the use of Microsoft Office with extra emphasis on Excel.
- The ability to interpret CAD drawings and use of CAD software is preferable.
- Ability to work well under pressure, manage time effectively and prioritise workload to meet strict deadlines.
- Carry out tasks-in-hand thoroughly and with accuracy applying attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and disciplined in time management.
