Summary
The Electrical Design Engineer will work on electrical projects with voltages ranging from LV to 132kV. Reviewing Contestable Connection Offers from Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and finishing designs that adhere to applicable DNO regulations, British, and IEC standards will require teamwork. Additionally, they will need to help with the design of a variety of energy projects on customer private networks, primarily battery energy storage facilities and solar farms, though the customer private network could be used for any kind of project, such as a generation plant or a demand/load connection. The lead electrical engineer's coaching of trainee and graduate electrical engineers will be the electrical engineer's responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Capable of exhibiting leadership abilities in all facets of the business operations.
- Overseeing the design management of grid link and private network infrastructure projects from LV to 132kV.
- Working on several projects at once; adhering to all stated standards, rules, policies, and procedures to ensure good work delivery; and maintaining and improving technical skills and competence to ensure high standards of delivery
- Participate in site visits with the construction team as needed to guarantee seamless design delivery.
- Attend training sessions as needed to maintain knowledge and application of systems and procedures.
Deliverables
- Completing design risk assessments unique to the project.
- Providing the customer and/or project manager with regular reports and updates regarding the status of the project's design.
- Participate in customer and DNO meetings as needed.
- The DNO grid connection offers and project technical reviews
- The technical evaluation of the client's technical requirements documents, which may include employer needs in addition to others.
- The conceptual and physical design of the private network infrastructure and grid connection from low voltage to 132 kV.
- Cable route designs;
- Single line diagrams for the main connections and protection
- Studies on cable sizing
- Switchgear selection and specification
- Transformer selection and specification
- CT and VT sizing studies
- Battery Charger sizing studies
- Tendering and procurement of Primary and Secondary Plant following detailed design
- Multicore schedule, Multicore termination schedules
- Small Power and Lighting Design
- Substation layout design
Essentials
- Possess a bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics engineering
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Has worked in contracting or consulting for at least five years
- Strong numeracy skills
- Experience in Project Management

- Clean driving record
