About the Role
Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater. As part of a recent reorganisation, the HPC Site Construction Supply Chain team is expanding, and we’re looking for commercially driven professionals to help lead us through the final phase of Europe’s largest construction project. The Opportunity
At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes. As a Commercial Assistant, you’ll be a vital part of the HPC Commercial Group, working closely with the Commercial Manager and wider teams across Nuclear New Build. You’ll provide essential support to ensure contracts are managed effectively and contribute to the successful delivery of one of the UK’s most ambitious energy projects. The salary associated with this role is Circa £36,000 per annum, depending on experience. What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be the go-to person for commercial support, managing contracts, assessing contractor applications, processing payments, reviewing site measurements, and ensuring contractual obligations are met—keeping the project on track. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders, attend progress meetings, monitor contract performance, and flag issues early. Your insights will aid decision-making, risk management, and efficient handling of changes. You’ll also be responsible for reporting and documentation, including preparing cost reports, supporting project close-outs, and maintaining commercial tools like CEMAR and SAP. Your attention to detail and proactive approach will be key to success.
Who You Are
You may have a degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field, but what matters most is your proven track record in contract administration. You thrive in team environments and bring a collaborative spirit. You possess a solid understanding of contracts, cost reporting, and financial modelling, with basic knowledge of performance measurement and risk management. Familiarity with NEC and FIDIC contracts is advantageous. Your communication skills are excellent, and you are confident in influencing and negotiating at all levels.
