We’re supporting a unique, scientific instruments manufacturer in their search for an experienced Engineering Manager. As Engineering Manager, you will take responsibility for the delivery of product development, technical support and long-term engineering strategy. You will manage a team of electronic, mechanical and software engineers, scientists, and support staff – ensuring delivery of new product innovation, continuous improvement, and technical leadership across the business. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both project and people management, as well as technical input depending on your background.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Engineering Department in line with company strategy and values
- Manage project delivery, resources, and budgets across R&D and technical functions
- Provide hands-on engineering support and guidance within your area of expertise
- Oversee product development from concept through to feasibility, prototype and release
- Contribute to product strategy, planning, and innovation pipelines
- Manage compliance, product improvements, and lifecycle support for legacy products
About you:
- Proven track record in engineering or R&D leadership roles, ideally in a small to mid-sized technical business
- Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline, with recent hands-on engineering experience
- Confident leading multidisciplinary teams and managing technical resources
- Strong understanding of product development, project planning and budgeting
- Skilled communicator with a collaborative and inclusive leadership style
- Knowledge of scientific instrument design, IP, compliance and lifecycle support desirable
