Maintenance Technician – Vrieservice, Coventry

Job Overview

Key maintenance role responsible for plant and equipment, ensuring high standards of performance and safety across manufacturing areas.

Location & Pay

Coventry, UK – £32.56 per hour via PAYE. 12‑month contract, full‑time.

Shift Pattern

3 on / 3 off, 6‑week rotating shift, 7 am‑7 pm or 7 pm‑7 am.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform corrective electrical and minor mechanical repairs, restoring equipment to optimal operational condition.
• Prioritise safety during maintenance, protecting operators and maintenance personnel.
• Execute planned preventive maintenance using diagnostic and predictive techniques.
• Provide installation and refurbishment services for plant equipment and buildings.
• Monitor and record plant machine condition, ensuring legislative compliance.
• Support production operations by training staff in first‑line maintenance procedures.
• Promote continuous improvement, reducing downtime through refined maintenance schedules.
• Train and advise team members, attending training courses as needed.
• Comply with Health, Safety, Environmental policies and Quality procedures.
• Work independently or within a team, liaising with subcontractors for maintenance purposes.
• Carry out special duties as assigned.

Essential Skills & Technical Requirements

• Knowledge and experience with CMMS systems.
• Installation and maintenance of electrical systems.
• Maintenance of plant equipment including CNC machines and Fanuc/Siemens controls.
• Engineering/Maintenance Apprenticeship.
• GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
• City & Guilds or equivalent qualification.
• Ability to work under pressure and in hazardous areas.
• Availability to cover day and night shift patterns.
• Desirable: BS7671, 18th edition qualification.
• Knowledge of IEE wiring regulations, electrical diagrams and ladder diagrams.
• Experience with industrial boilers and induction furnaces.
• PC skills and working knowledge of statutory regulations and Health & Safety.
