Hours of work: Contracted 42.5 hours week – Monday to Friday
Salary: circa £45,000 to £50,000 depending on skills and experience

Main purpose of the role:
To manage and oversee the warehouse functions at our client's Waltham Abbey site to achieve the safe, efficient, timely and profitable delivery of orders to customers. To maintain and develop the business structures with profitable implementation of the Company’s Objectives in relation to internal logistics and operational standards.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience of warehousing, inventory and distribution management
- Experience within a similar industry is highly desirable but not essential
- Financial and Commercial awareness
- Sound knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and practice
- Basic working knowledge of environmental legislation
- Knowledge and experience of work processes
- Good interpersonal and people management skills
- Good motivator and people developer
- Highly organised; must be able to prioritise to manage workloads
- A thorough knowledge of the Supply Chain is required, with particular emphasis on experience of: Warehousing, Inventory Management, Health and Safety and IT
- Communication and negotiation skills are essential
- Proficient in providing business solutions and communicating these for execution
- Understanding of operational issues related to business performance and productivity
- Proven ability to follow company policy and procedures for all operational matters (i.e. Health and Safety, Business Controls, Human Resources etc)
- Control HS&E training
- Oversee or perform investigations as required for accidents/incidents. Report recommending approach to prevent any recurrence.
Key Result Areas:
- To deliver targeted improvements to group internal logistics
- Work closely with Transport Managers & Managing Director to ensure efficient logistics operations
- Continual analysis and review of the operational processes across the site to establish their effectiveness
- Actively seek cost-effective solutions to improve the strategic and tactical running of the business
- To meet business objectives of responsiveness and agility to maximise customer satisfaction by developing best practice operational cost-efficient processes
- To develop and maintain best operating practice for the business, ensuring consistency of working methods and procedures across all sites, including stock management processes
- To maximise efficiency and productivity through the effective deployment of resources and staff; recommend appropriate investment in plant and machinery
- To monitor achievement of service levels, operating efficiencies, stock management, and supporting administration. To take remedial action where required in consultation with the Managing Director
- Support the implementation of Stock Management methods and procedures to increase stock availability at site while reducing overall stock holdings
- To establish and maintain strong, productive working relationships with the sales and Customer Service team to achieve a realistic standard of service which both meets and exceeds customer expectation
- To take responsibility for recruiting, appraising, training and developing supervisors and staff
- To manage the cost budgets in areas of responsibility
- To ensure the security, repair and maintenance of the sites, including offices, land, plant and machinery
- To maintain a high profile for Health and Safety and to ensure the enforcement of safe working practices at all times; to ensure the adherence of supervisors and staff to the statutory and Company requirements in respect of all H&S issues
Qualification:
- History of success in operations management
- Professional qualification - Six Sigma, CPC or related subjects desirable but not essential
