Ridgeway & Co are currently looking for a driven Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a leading Main Contractor with a reputation for delivering technically complex, high-quality construction projects across the UK. Their Oxford division plays a key role in delivering refurbishment and new build projects across the pharmaceutical, student accommodation, automotive, and commercial sectors, with individual project values reaching up to £70 million.
Role Overview
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you’ll support the commercial team in managing the financial aspects of construction projects. This is a great role for someone looking to gain hands-on experience with a business that’s committed to professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing cost plans, valuations, and final accounts
- Work with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain quotations and issue orders
- Support with the assessment of variations and change control
- Maintain up-to-date cost reports and assist with project forecasting
- Liaise with site and project teams to ensure financial processes align with progress
- Support with procurement and contractual documentation
Requirements
- Degree-qualified or working towards a qualification in Quantity Surveying or similar
- 2+ years of experience in a construction or commercial environment
- Strong numerical and organisational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic QS software
- Positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn
- Full UK driving licence preferred
