Job Description

The Data Protection & Commercial Counsel will be a key member of the Legal team. They will advise on complex contractual privacy matters and provide commercial drafting support.

Responsibilities include:

Providing comprehensive advice on privacy and data protection issues
Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) and advising stakeholders on potential impacts
Monitoring regulatory changes and updates
Collaborating with the DPO and data protection team on operational escalations
Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts such as IT, SaaS, IP, and consultancy agreements
Managing privacy and data protection training for staff
Representing the organisation in privacy-related inquiries or investigations

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor in England & Wales with an up-to-date practising certificate. Additionally, they will have:

Approximately 4 years PQE
Experience in a similar role within the not-for-profit sector
Knowledge of data protection advisory
Strong commercial contract drafting skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in managing complex projects
