Senior Lead Software Engineer : API Management Platform, DevOps

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank, specifically in the Payments Technology division, your role will be pivotal in an agile team. You will be responsible for the enhancement, creation, and delivery of high-quality technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable manner. As a significant technical contributor, your tasks will include developing essential technology solutions across multiple technical domains within various business functions, all to support the firm\’s business goals.

Job responsibilities

• Execute creative software solutions, design, develop, and troubleshoot technical issues, thinking beyond routine approaches to build solutions or solve problems.
• Develop secure, high-quality production code, review, and debug code written by others.
• Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate recurring issues to improve operational stability.
• Lead evaluations with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs and technical credentials for system integration.
• Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote awareness and adoption of new technologies.
• Contribute to a team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
• Expand capabilities and adoption of the modern API gateway for Payments Web APIs.
• Ensure stability, security, and scalability of the API infrastructure by paying attention to non-functional requirements.
• Participate actively in a global agile team environment.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification in API Management Platform concepts with advanced experience.
• Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages.
• Experience with automation and continuous delivery methods.
• Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
• Proficiency in technical disciplines like cloud, AI, machine learning, or mobile applications.
• Knowledge of the financial services industry and IT systems.
• Experience with cloud-native technologies.
• Professional experience with API management tools like APIGEE, Kong, or Mulesoft.
• Strong understanding of OpenAPI Specification (OAS) for RESTful APIs.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Experience with AWS services (ECS, EKS, MKS).
• Familiarity with Kong API Gateway.
• Experience with performance and soak testing.
• Knowledge of Golang and Lua programming languages.
