About the Role

We are supporting a leading Environmental and Engineering Consultancy in the search for a specialist Quantity Surveyor / Project Manager to oversee fire compartmentation and passive fire safety remedial works across a portfolio in Greater Manchester. This critical role involves translating fire door and compartmentation survey findings into actionable specifications, managing remedial works through to completion, and ensuring full compliance with fire safety regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret fire door and compartmentation survey reports to define remedial requirements.
  • Produce detailed technical specifications, including materials, workmanship standards, and relevant compliance codes.
  • Manage cost estimation, schedules of rates, and tender documents.
  • Oversee on-site project delivery, ensuring timelines, budgets, and compliance targets are met.
  • Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure adherence to building regulations, CDM regulations, and fire safety legislation.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on remedial works, including fire-stopping and door installation.
  • Support documentation and reporting for audit and compliance purposes.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Project Management.
  • Member of RICS, CIOB, or working towards certification.
  • DIPFD – Diploma in Fire Door Inspection.
  • FSIDIP – Fire Stopping Inspection Diploma.
  • In-depth knowledge of passive fire protection and Approved Document B.
  • Proven experience writing and managing specifications for fire safety remedial works.
  • Project management experience in a construction or fire safety context.
  • Strong familiarity with JCT and NEC contracts.
  • Cost management experience, including take-offs and pricing of remedial works.
  • Working knowledge of CDM Regulations.

Desirable

  • Experience delivering fire safety upgrades or passive fire protection works.
  • Knowledge of fire-rated product installation.
  • Experience across varied building structures (residential, commercial, etc.).
  • Strong contractor negotiation and supplier management skills.
