The predicted salary is between 43200 - 72000 £ per year.
This is a full time 10PA substantive consultant position in Breast Surgery at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust. The postholder will be expected to provide a comprehensive service for patients with breast disease, and oncoplastic and reconstructive surgery skills are essential. Close collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team is required, including regular participation in weekly multidisciplinary meetings. The postholder will develop effective working relationships with the Breast Unit management team and the Clinical and Network Director. Responsibilities also include supervising and training junior medical staff and non-medical personnel as appropriate.
The postholder must meet GMC, Royal College, and the Association of Breast Surgery requirements for revalidation and CPD. Contribution to postgraduate and ongoing medical education locally, nationally, and internationally is expected. Annual appraisals, job planning, and maintaining a Personal Development Plan in consultation with the Clinical Lead or Deputy are required. Collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues to promote research interests is encouraged, and individual research initiatives are welcomed.

The postholder will engage in clinical governance activities, including audits, peer reviews, and quality assurance site visits. The role is primarily based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, with a one-stop clinic at Newham Hospital, and may require work at other sites within the network, with travel arrangements provided. This position does not involve general surgery on-call commitments.
Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent
- Full GMC registration with Licence to Practice and on the Specialist Register for General/Plastic Surgery (or within 6 months of application)
- FRCS or equivalent
