Automation / Manufacturing & Engineering Focus (No IT)

£350 - £400 per day (Outside IR35) | Dependent on Location

Rolling Contract to start in July (Monday to Friday, 07:00 – 17:00)

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Test Manager / Commissioning Engineer to join our team. The role involves overseeing the commissioning, testing, and validation of automated systems in line with the "as sold" requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and conducting on-site testing, ensuring system performance aligns with customer needs, and securing final approval. Post-commissioning, you will also be required to perform final system testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Testing & Validation: Develop and execute test plans (e.g., Site Acceptance Tests, Performance Tests) to ensure systems meet specifications, customer needs, and safety standards.
  • Issue Management: Track, resolve, and re-test issues using tools like Jira. Confirm defect fixes and manage testing timelines.
  • Volume Testing: Perform stress testing to identify system bottlenecks and validate overall system performance.
  • Coordination & Reporting: Provide updates to the Lead SIM and Project Manager. Supply data for reports and dashboards.
  • Client Engagement: Act as the primary contact for customer testing requirements, fostering strong communication and relationships.
  • Software Oversight: Oversee WCS and PLC testing during the automation process, ensuring system messaging and communication are aligned.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Strong expertise in automation systems (e.g., conveyors, cranes, TMS, shuttles).
  • Proficiency with PLC, SCADA, and system messaging validation.
  • Solid electrical and mechanical system knowledge (qualifications advantageous).
  • Proven experience in commissioning and testing automation or material handling systems.
  • Ability to perform volume/stress testing and identify system issues.
  • Experience with WCS/WMS, including data analysis (e.g., SAP WMS).
  • Previous experience as a Test Manager or Commissioning Engineer in automation/material handling.
  • Proficiency in Excel for data verification and reporting.
  • Safety-focused, with ECS/CSCS cards for on-site work.
