OUTSIDE IR35 – REMOTE (1 DAY PER MONTH ON SITE IN CUMBRIA) – SC CLEARANCE – 6 MONTH CONTRACT The Engagement Manager in Defence IT will be responsible for managing strategic client relationships within the defence sector, ensuring project delivery aligns with industry standards and security requirements. This role involves close collaboration with both clients and internal teams to support the successful implementation of IT solutions that meet critical defence needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT project management within defence and security environments, including familiarity with SC (Security Check) clearance requirements and MOD (Ministry of Defence) protocols. Key Responsibilities: Act as the primary point of contact for defence sector clients, maintaining clear, professional communication and managing stakeholder expectations. Oversee IT project delivery, ensuring all projects meet strict security, timeline, quality, and budgetary requirements specific to defence contracts. Collaborate closely with technical teams to align project milestones with defence-specific regulations, such as MOD policies and security frameworks. Identify and pursue opportunities for further engagement within existing defence accounts, driving business growth and deepening client relationships. Conduct regular progress updates, status reports, and briefings with clients and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with defence IT protocols. Proactively manage project risks, identifying and addressing any compliance or security-related issues that arise. Ensure all engagements adhere to IR35 regulations and SC clearance requirements where applicable. Requirements: Experience: Proven experience as an Engagement Manager or similar role within the defence or government IT sector, with a strong understanding of defence client needs and project management in secure environments. Security Clearance: SC clearance or eligibility is required for this role. Technical Skills: Familiarity with defence IT standards, MOD compliance, and project management tools (eg, MS Project, JIRA). Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work closely with high-stakes clients and cross-functional teams. Project Management: Demonstrated experience in delivering IT projects within secure or regulated sectors; relevant certifications (eg, PMP, PRINCE2) are advantageous
