Our client, a global leader in offshore engineering projects and services, is currently seeking a highly skilled Mooring Specialist to oversee the installation of mooring lines for an exciting project in the Santos Basin, Brazil. Initial work performed from the UK.
Position Overview:
We are looking for a seasoned Senior Engineer with extensive experience in deepwater mooring line installations, particularly with Polyester rope segments. The successful candidates will prepare procedures for mobilisation and installation and lead the offshore execution of 26 mooring lines pre-lay at a water depth of 2000 meters, utilising an Anchor Handling Tug (AHT).
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare for the installation of 26 mooring lines (each line composed of 200m x 120mm chain and three segments of 900m x 198mm rope).
- Develop comprehensive procedures for mobilisation and installation of mooring lines, leading offshore execution.
- Drive Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRAs) and address all technical challenges with the support of company engineering tools and software.
- Ensure the selected vessel is fit for purpose, engage in discussions with the vessel owner, and conduct on-site preparations and inspections as necessary.
- Work remotely during the initial engineering phase before transitioning to onboard leadership for mobilisation and offshore execution.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in mooring line installations in deepwater environments, particularly within the last three years.
- Strong expertise with Polyester rope segments and installation processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Experience working in Brazil is desirable; fluency in Portuguese would be an advantage.
- Demonstrated capability in documentation and adherence to engineering standards.
