Lead employees to ensure customer satisfaction by moving all shipments on time and damage-free.
Essential Functions
- Lead, manage, educate, and develop company employees focusing on retention and growth.
- Supervise and direct employee work, including pre-shifts, with a focus on quality, customer deliverables, and safety performance, identifying and overseeing improvements.
- Actively monitor, record, and educate employees on unsafe acts/conditions, correcting immediately using corrective actions as needed. Provide feedback and follow-up with all impacted employees.
- Plan daily manpower needs and set schedules to ensure timely and damage-free delivery and pickup of freight.
- Communicate job assignments clearly and concisely, coordinating with all employees.
- Monitor service freight and ensure compliance with cut time schedules.
- Analyze opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiencies while maintaining safety standards.
- Assist customers with rate quotes, claim information, and setting appointments.
- Monitor performance data and gather information for reporting.
- Build relationships and maintain positive communication with all business partners to meet service standards.
- Identify freight that is incorrectly weighed or classified.
- Ensure all OS&D (Overages, Shortages, and Damages) are identified and processed properly.
Administrative Functions
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of the LTL industry, DOT rules, OSHA laws, hazardous materials regulations, NMFC, and tariff rules, preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good organizational skills and multi-tasking ability.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Internet.
Working Conditions
- Dock environment with exposure to weather, fumes, dust, and noise.
- Hours may vary based on operational needs.
- Frequent contact with service center personnel in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented setting.
