About us: Family Care are a family-owned social care provider working therapeutically with children for over 30 years, we are committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where every child and young person can thrive.
About the role: As a Residential Childcare Worker, you'll be a key part of each young person's journey - offering consistent emotional support, practical guidance, and encouragement in their daily lives. You'll help them build essential life skills and work collaboratively with professionals to deliver tailored care plans. Using the home's Therapeutic Model, you'll also work alongside our in-house therapists to create a stable, nurturing environment where young people can grow, heal, and make meaningful, lasting progress.
Key responsibilities:
- Build trusting relationships with children and young people
- Support with day-to-day routines including education, meals, and recreational activities
- Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours using therapeutic approaches
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning
- Promote independence and emotional wellbeing
- Work as part of a team, including sleep-ins and shift/rota work
What we are looking for:
- Experience working with children or young people (EBD or similar settings preferred)
- NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Resilient, empathetic, and patient approach
- Full UK driving licence
