The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

Our client has a fantastic new opening for an Operator to join their busy operations team on a full time permanent basis in Aberdeen. This role is full time based in their Aberdeen office with the requirement to travel to vessels when required and on call duty every 4 weeks.

General responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the execution, implementation and supervision of assigned commercial contracts, time and spot charters as well as achieving the highest financial results.
  • Discusses daily operational issues with Vessel Owners and Ship Managers.
  • Has daily contact with the assigned vessels and assists them.
  • Ensures that the vessel complies with all requirements under the Charter Party.
  • Closely monitors vessel performance and ensures that they comply with policies.
  • Ensures that the vessel’s daily position and performance is recorded.
  • Ensures that hire/freight invoices are issued and paid in accordance.
  • Ensures that provisions for any claims/by debts are administered.
  • Briefs and/or debriefs masters on commercial/operational issues.
  • Visits the assigned vessels at least once a year.
  • Analyses customers feedback to ensure structural improvements.
  • Ensures and facilitates smooth communication between various parties involved in the execution/implementation of commercial contracts (e.g. vessels, commercial managers, technical managers and other parties).
  • Provides reports and analyses to the Operations Manager, to support tactical decisions and/or to offer advice to the benefit of the trading result and/or the effectiveness of the commercial contracts.
  • Maintains and updates voyage accounts, pool administration and reports to measure the effectiveness of vessels employed/operated.
  • Responsible for handling all customer complaints in consultation with the Operations Manager.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree/ Higher Vocational Education (marine) or equivalent.
  • Experience in a similar maritime commercial position and/or seagoing experience on vessels at deck officer level.
  • Preferably 4 years’ experience in specific function.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Excellent reporting and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and voyage administration.

Please note: Applicants must have the RTW in the UK and stay within daily commute distance to Aberdeen. No relocation or sponsorship are provided for this role.
