Here at Burns Sheehan, we are working exclusively with a critical infrastructure organisation within the aviation sector, operating across multiple high-security environments and managing essential services that millions depend on daily.

With an expanding testing function currently scaling from 19 to 25 headcount, they are seeking a Lead Test Engineer to drive quality excellence across their diverse technology landscape and lead from the front in delivering robust testing frameworks.

The Role:

This is a hands-on Lead Test Engineer position where you will lead a team of 5 testers while actively building and implementing testing frameworks across large-scale, critical infrastructure projects. You'll be working in a regulated environment where security, process rigor, and quality are paramount.

The successful candidate will have proven experience leading testing initiatives in highly regulated industries and be comfortable working across both agile and waterfall methodologies within large, complex project structures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership - Leading and mentoring a team of 5 test engineers, driving best practices and quality standards
  • Framework Development - Hands-on building and implementation of automated testing frameworks across diverse technology stacks
  • Large-Scale Project Delivery - Managing testing activities across vast, complex infrastructure projects
  • Process Adherence - Ensuring rigorous testing processes meet critical infrastructure and security requirements
  • Stakeholder Collaboration - Working closely with development teams, project managers, and senior leadership

What We're Looking For:

  • Strong hands-on experience with JUnit, Selenium, Playwright and experience testing Node.js, JavaScript applications and AWS/Azure cloud platforms
  • Security clearance eligible - British passport holder, UK resident for past 5 years minimum
  • Experience working within large teams and complex project structures
  • Comfortable working in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies
  • Proven experience leading testing teams in regulated industries such as: Finance, Government, Travel, Military etc... (Nice to have)
