Data Architect (Customer Domain)

Location: 3 days onsite – London

Salary: Up to £107,500 per annum

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Data Architect with a strong customer data background to help shape and mature our data capabilities. As a strategic advisor and technical expert, you’ll be at the heart of our Commercial data transformation, supporting everything from CRM integration to GDPR-compliant architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and maintain scalable, secure, and business-aligned data architecture
  • Champion data governance (GDPR/DPIA) and promote high standards in data quality and compliance
  • Lead the design of conceptual, logical, and physical data models
  • Collaborate with business and IT to align data strategy with business outcomes
  • Integrate CRM platforms (ideally Salesforce) into architectural frameworks
  • Provide documentation of data flows, interfaces, and models
  • Empower self-service analytics and ad hoc data access for stakeholders
  • Influence data architecture maturity and drive adoption of best practices

What We’re Looking For:

Must-Have Experience:

  • Solid Data Architecture background (not Data Engineering)
  • Proven experience working with customer data and CRM systems
  • Strong understanding of GDPR and data privacy impact assessments (DPIA)
  • Experience in data integration, ETL, and data warehousing
  • Comfort working cross-functionally with tech, product, and business teams
  • Practical experience with tools like Salesforce or Customer Data Platforms (CDPs)
  • Skilled at navigating complex data governance, security, and compliance

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Data modelling skills (Irwin tool knowledge a plus)
  • Industry background in Retail, E-commerce, Utilities, or Consumer Banking
  • Familiarity with Azure (our estate) or other cloud ecosystems
  • Certifications such as CDMP, Azure/AWS Data Engineer
  • Knowledge of data visualisation tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker
