This is a full-time working position where the person will preferably have a trade background but will also be multi-skilled in general building and renovation work. A good knowledge of building and maintenance repairs is required and previous site experience is essential. An understanding of building codes and regulations will also be required to ensure that work is completed up to standard.
The role is a physical working position, so the possession of appropriate working tools is essential. A full driving licence will be required and preferably the ownership of a suitable vehicle for transporting tools and materials.
Most of the duties will be performed on outdoor construction sites, which means facing all types of weather, so good physical condition and stamina are essential. The role may involve working at heights or possibly in confined spaces.
The duties will include:
- Carrying out general building and maintenance work requiring a certain skill level.
- Making sure that all work that is carried out is up to standard.
- Maintaining a good clean and safe working area.
- Ensuring that all work is carried out in a safe manner and complying with health and safety practices such as wearing the appropriate personal protective clothing and equipment.
- Liaising with supervision particularly with regard to material and equipment requirements.
- Ensuring that all work is completed to agreed programmes.
