The Lead Health and Safety Manager Role wil oversee the safety arrangements in ASW retail business units

Reporting to the senior of Health, Safety and Facilities and will support in the developing and implementing the organisational health, safety and fire strategy, providing expert advice to the organisational stakeholders on health, safety and fire matters and influencing and contributing to the development of organisational policies and procedures.

The position holder will be required to communicate health and safety performance and initiatives across the organisation, act as the primary point of contact for health and safety matters with external stakeholders, and report on incident trends and statistics. National travel

Responsibilities include:

· Strong implementation skills, an excellent communicator and a team leader with a proven track record of developing compliance with health & safety.

· Engagement of all levels of an organization to improving the overall safety culture.

· Embedding the ownership and accountability of health & safety is important within site management teams and at the same time the awareness of being operational.

· To keep abreast of legislation and compliance requirements, assuring business awareness and facilitating any changes required to maintain a legal business operation.

· Building working relationships with governing bodies, local authorities and primary authorities’ partnerships.

· Support the development of the strategic business plan with particular regards to H&S initiatives, projects and targets.

· Develop and maintain health and safety policies and procedures. Keeping key business duty holders informed and instructed.

· Develop a site management system or the control of health and safety, meeting the requirements of relevant guidance.

· Developing and leading the H&S Team & wider teams on health and safety projects

· Provision of an effective safety monitoring and control regime including programmes of

visits, inspections, spot checks and audits, prioritising high risk activities.

· Working in collaboration with other stakeholders to support the business units with Pest Management controls.

· Provision of comprehensive training programmes on safety procedures and compliance requirements.

· Lead the businesses risk management software agenda to ensure a data driven system is in place.

· Manage the health and safety team. Setting suitable KPI’s for the delivery of H&S and Fire strategy and reviewing direct reports performance.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essentials:

• Relevant health and safety experience gained in a multi – site in retail / service industry

• Level 6 Occupational Health & Safety Qualification

• Fire Safety Qualification.

· Memberships within Health & Safety / Fire Organisations i.e. CMIOSH, MIFPO.

· Driving Licence and confidence to travel around the UK. This is a field based role that requires frequent travel throughout the week and overnight stays away from home. Travel will be between our Head Office in East Croydon, London & retail premises nationwide

Desirable:

• Experience in Transport Occupational Health and Safety Road Risk

· Experience in contract management, procurement and governance contracts

· Experience with Primary Authority Partnerships

· Experience in Pest Management

· Experience in Pharmacy / Healthcare sector
