Swift Specialist Recruitment are seeking a Freight Forwarder (Air & Ocean) to join the team of one of our most prestigious clients at their Aberdeen office.
Overall purpose of the job: To ensure all work is undertaken and actioned correctly in accordance with company procedures and policies, ensuring that our customers and overseas agents receive a good level of service.
Main Tasks & responsibilities:
- Liaising with UK customers or overseas agents to arrange the collection & shipping of freight going overseas.
- Speaking with a selected haulier or transport team to arrange the collection of the freight.
- Checking commercial invoices to make sure we have the relevant information for customs procedure.
- When dealing with a DG shipment, making sure the correct checks are carried out prior to submitting the goods to the airline & ensuring we have all the correct DG documentation.
- Speaking directly to the airline to arrange flights.
- Obtaining costs from different airlines to find the most cost-effective route to send the freight.
- Negotiating with airlines for better rates.
- Keeping agents &/or customers up to date with the progress of the shipments.
- Creating export entries for Air/Sea/Road shipment.
- Arranging courier shipments on online platforms for all export shipments in the export departments.
- Making sure all costs in the jobs are up to date & amended if need be before invoicing the customer.
- Updating post flights & milestones for each job.
- Sending pre-alerts in good time and ensuring all AMS/FWB/FHL have been transmitted.
- Resolving any issues with missing/damaged shipments and finding solutions to the problem.
- Creating Country of Origin & EUR1 documentation.
- Insuring shipments.
