Our client is one of the world’s leading electronics groups, working at the forefront of next generation communications technology in various sectors including Telecommunications, Aerospace & Defence and Critical Infrastructure. As their business continues to grow in the UK Aerospace & Defence market, they are looking for an experienced Field Engineer with knowledge of Telecommunications systems. Preferably with a military background, but not essential.

Working on secure communications systems for military and commercial customers, primarily supporting naval platforms. Working independently with a high degree of autonomy, travelling to customer sites including Naval vessels within the UK and overseas. Installation, maintenance and defect rectification of the full range of RF Communications Systems.

The right candidate must have strong analytical and technical skills with an emphasis on fault finding. The client will provide in depth product training via internal product training programmes as well as on-site with Senior Engineers. The Field Engineer role reports to the head of the UK Projects and Solutions group; there are opportunities to grow within the company by working towards becoming the Lead Engineer responsible for several projects, or other disciplines such as Project Management or Engineering Management.

Because the role involves travel, and their customers are in the Defence Industry you must hold a Full UK driving license and be eligible for UK SC and DV Clearance.

Additional required skills/experience:
  • Able to demonstrate a good working-level knowledge of RF electronics, ideally within a Military HF/VHF/UHF environment.
  • Install, maintain and repair legacy/delivered communication systems.
  • Ideally experienced in creating system test strategy development and validation, verification, and test plan documentation.
  • Understanding of fault-finding TCP/IP Server Based Systems/Networks.
  • Computer literacy (Windows, MS Office, VISIO).
