The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.
We are working with a prestigious membership organization to recruit an experienced Managing Editor within their Journal Development Team. The Managing Editor will play an important role in contributing to the strategic growth and impact of the organisation’s open access programme and will have direct responsibility for the management and development of several journals. The Managing Editor will work closely with external editors and editorial boards to identify and deliver the strategic needs of each journal and build high performing editorial boards and manage the article pipeline. The Managing Editor will also attend scientific conferences and other events to raise the profile of the journals, create networks and increase market understanding. This position offers a hybrid working arrangement.
Some of the key responsibilities of the Managing Editor will include:
- Creating and delivering plans to grow the journal portfolio through journal development
- Managing your journals, ensuring they meet targets and objectives
- Building high performance editorial boards
- Commissioning special issues and other content, building a network of contacts and working with Editorial Boards and the Journal Development team to build and deliver on commissioning plans
The Person
We are looking for an ambitious publishing professional who can manage their own workload, with proven experience of working in a scientific journal development/journal management role, with experience of Open Access. You will be happy to contribute ideas, suggestions etc. with a strong customer focus, and you will be someone who is able to appreciate wider industry trends and apply this to the detail of your portfolio. You will be a strong team player, with demonstrable knowledge of publishing processes, and the ability to work to tight deadlines. This role offers the scope to develop within the team and the wider organization.
